On June 23rd we noticed Google was testing the URL placement in both the paid search and organic ad positions. This definitely calls more attention to the title tag by underlining it with color and lays the page out a bit more nicely in this author’s humble opinion. As of August 9th this seems to be a permanent change. We have noticed a raise in organic and paid search CTR’s on keyword dense URL’s. The change is too small and data too limited to attribute it to this change but “gut instinct” says this was a positive change for those who take extra care with PPC display URL’s and URL naming conventions for web pages.
